An assessment of effect of remote work on employee’s job commitment: a case study of Accra Institute of Technology)

Project Synopsis

Purpose of the Study:

The purpose of this study is to explore the factors influencing employee motivation for remote work and assess the relationship between remote work and employees' work commitment. The study adopts several theoretical frameworks to provide a comprehensive analysis of the topic.

Methods Used:

The study employed a quantitative approach, selecting a sample size of 66 participants from a population of 121 employees at AIT. The sampling technique used Krejcie and Morgan's table (1970) to determine an appropriate sample size. Quantitative methods were utilized to analyze the effect of remote work on employee commitment.

Results and Conclusions:

The findings of the study indicate that the clarity of job responsibilities negatively affects employees' commitment levels at AIT. The presence of a negative coefficient suggests that the current job descriptions provided to employees are problematic and any attempt to add to these descriptions further reduces employee commitment.

Implications:

The study's results have significant implications for AIT and organizations considering remote work arrangements. It emphasizes the importance of clear and well-defined job descriptions for remote employees to maintain their commitment. Organizations should carefully consider how changes or additions to job responsibilities may impact employee commitment. Addressing these factors can foster a supportive work environment that enhances employee commitment, even in remote work settings. This, in turn, positively impacts overall organizational performance and employee satisfaction. Organizations should prioritize ensuring clarity in job responsibilities to promote employee commitment and well-being in remote work environments.
