Purpose of the Study:
The purpose of this study is to identify and assess the effectiveness of inventory management policies utilized by Nutrifoods Construction Limited. Additionally, it aims to ascertain the nature of the relationship between inventory management procedures and adequate inventory supply, and to evaluate the impact of inventory management on the organization's performance. By conducting this research, we can gain valuable insights into the role of inventory management in enhancing operational efficiency and overall performance.
Methods Used:
To achieve the study objectives, a descriptive research design was employed. The population of the study comprised 317 staff members from Nutrifoods Construction Limited. Convenience sampling techniques were used to select a sample size of 76 respondents. Data was collected using a questionnaire as the primary data collection tool. The gathered data was then analyzed through inferential analysis to draw meaningful conclusions.
Results and Recommendations:
The study's results indicate that the inventory management policies employed by Nutrifoods Construction Limited were not effective. The organization utilized various inventory management techniques, including ABC analysis, just-in-time (JIT) technique, material requirement planning (MRP) method, economic order quantity (EOQ) method, and minimum safety stock. Among these, the JIT inventory management technique was found to be the most commonly used. Based on the findings, the study recommends that Nutrifoods Construction Limited reassesses and improves its inventory management policies. Specifically, the organization should consider revising its existing policies to enhance their effectiveness. Additionally, they should explore the potential benefits of implementing alternative techniques, such as MRP and EOQ, to optimize inventory control and ensure an adequate supply.
Implications to Theory:
The study contributes to the existing body of knowledge by highlighting the importance of effective inventory management in manufacturing enterprises. It establishes a significant and positive relationship between inventory management procedures and adequate inventory supply. Furthermore, the research demonstrates that a well-implemented inventory management procedure positively impacts an organization's overall performance. These implications support the theoretical understanding of the role of inventory management in optimizing operations and enhancing organizational performance. They provide valuable insights for both researchers and practitioners in the field, emphasizing the need for businesses to prioritize efficient inventory management practices for sustainable growth and success.
